Radioactivity in the building materials

The important radionuclides in building materials are kalium 40, radium 226 and thorium 228. From measured concentration of these radionuclides, "specific activity index" is calculated. According to regulation No.307/2002, there are stated guide values of this index for each building material, which shouldn't be exceeded. If the guide value is exceeded, producer should think about possibilities how to decrease amount of natural radionuclides (for example to change the source of base material).

In the case of customer's requirement, we are able to do the measurement of emanation coefficient in various building materials.

NUKLID firm is doing measurement on the basis of SUJB licence, the meter is verified in Czech metrological institute in Prag.
For the measurement you must supply (also you can send it by post) c. 0.5 l of shredded sample with a max. size of grains up to 3mm.
